Japanese Six-Panel Folding Screen – Beauties after Utagawa Kunisada – Fukui Asahido, Kyoto

An elegant Japanese six-panel decorative folding screen produced by Fukui Asahido Co., Ltd., Kyoto, Japan, featuring a composition after Utagawa Kunisada (Toyokuni III, 1786–1865), one of the most celebrated ukiyo-e artists of the Edo period.

The screen depicts elegantly dressed beauties and figures in colourful traditional Japanese garments. The composition is arranged across six folding panels and set against a striking fan-shaped design with shimmering silver, gold and blue tones.

The metallic background reflects the light beautifully and changes in appearance depending on the viewing angle, making this a particularly attractive decorative object for a Japanese-inspired or eclectic interior.

The screen can be displayed standing in a traditional zig-zag arrangement and can also be folded compactly for storage.

An explanatory sheet from Fukui Asahido Co., Ltd., Kyoto, Japan is included, together with the original storage box.
