Description

L.A. Woman is the sixth studio album by the American rock band The Doors, released in April 1971. It stands as the final album recorded with lead vocalist Jim Morrison prior to his tragic passing in Paris in July 1971.

Moving away from the brass-heavy orchestral arrangements of The Soft Parade, L.A. Woman marked a triumphant return to raw, blues-infused rock. Recorded mostly live at the band's rehearsal space (The Doors Workshop) on Santa Monica Boulevard, the album was self-produced by the band alongside engineer Bruce Botnick after their longtime producer Paul A. Rothchild left the project. The album birthed eternal classic rock staples, including "Riders on the Storm," "Love Her Madly," and the epic title track "L.A. Woman."
