The Philips N1700, released in 1977, is a pioneering home video cassette recorder using the VCR-LP (Video Cassette Recording-Long Play) format. It records PAL analogue video onto 0.5-inch chrome dioxide tape by halving tape speed and utilizing slant azimuth recording to eliminate guard bands.
