Vintage CYMA Cymaflex – Cal. R459 – 17 Jewels – Swiss Made
A very elegant vintage CYMA Cymaflex wristwatch, representing the classic understated style of Swiss watchmaking from the mid-20th century.
The watch is powered by the CYMA calibre R459, a hand-wound mechanical movement with 17 jewels, clearly signed CYMA R459. The movement presents very nicely and features the characteristic Cymaflex shock-protection system, one of CYMA’s recognizable technical solutions from this period.
The inside of the stainless-steel case back is correctly signed CYMA Watch Co. – Swiss Made and carries the numbers 1653 and 1 5730 6.
The silver-toned dial has beautifully aged over the decades. It retains its elegant applied hour markers, slim hands, central seconds and original CYMA / CYMAFLEX signatures. There is natural spotting and patina visible in close-up photographs; however, in normal viewing and particularly when the watch is worn on the wrist, it is considerably less noticeable. Overall, the dial remains attractive and gives the watch an authentic vintage character.
The chrome-plated case shows normal signs of age and use, including scratches and areas of chrome loss. The most noticeable plating wear is located around the sides and inner/lower areas of the case. When worn normally on the wrist, these imperfections are much less apparent, and the watch presents very well from the front.
It is fitted with a black leather strap with a lizard-style texture and a classic silver-tone buckle.
