Traditionally placed near a pond or water feature, bronze cranes such as this enhance the atmosphere of a Japanese garden and harmonise beautifully with stone lanterns 灯笼 (tôrô) and other garden ornaments. At the same time, its expressive pose and finely modelled surface make it a striking sculptural object for indoor display.

Approximate dimensions:
Height 85.5 cm, width 47 cm, depth 20 cm.
The figure is in fair condition with an old restored break to the legs. Two pins have been professionally inserted to stabilise the repair. Otherwise with minor traces of outdoor placement and wear consistent with age. Please refer to the photographs for a clear impression of the condition.
