A set of six original Cassina ‘699 Superleggera’ chairs, designed by Gio Ponti and dating from the model’s early production period.

Introduced by Cassina in 1957, the Superleggera represents the culmination of Ponti’s pursuit of lightness, structural economy and refined Italian craftsmanship. With its exceptionally slender frame and elegant proportions, it has become one of the most celebrated and recognisable chairs in the history of twentieth-century Italian design.

The chairs remain in very good overall condition. They display the natural ageing and fading characteristic of the original period aniline dye, including some sun-related discolouration. Certain areas have received discreet and sympathetic colour retouching. The seats themselves are perfectly preserved and remain in impeccable condition.
