卖家的描述
George Grosz (1893–1959).
“Hinterbliebene".
Offset lithograph from 1923.
Sheet 13 from of the immeasurable work "Ecce Homo" (published by Malik, Berlin, 1923). Ausgabe D.
35 x 25.4 cm.
Handling marks on the fragile paper of this edition and foxing points. In good condition considering its age. See photographs, please.
In "Ecce Homo," Grosz mordantly satirizes the depravity, violence, and injustice of the Weimar Republic in the aftermath of World War I. The work, which uses art as political critique, depicts a decadent, militaristic, and bourgeois society. The engravings portray war wounded, prostitutes, scarred soldiers, and wealthy bourgeois, highlighting the brutal contrast between social classes and revealing the corruption of the ruling class and the human degradation left in the war's wake.
