The lid features a breathtakingly dynamic and poetic composition titled "Flock of Flying Cranes" (群鶴 - Gunpaku).

Two main cranes soar majestically through the sky, depicted using a high-level combination of razor-sharp "Chinkin" hair-carvings for their feathers and vibrant gold Makie techniques.
Surrounding them, a vast, swirling flock of smaller cranes creates a mesmerizing sense of movement and grand scale.

These smaller cranes are rendered with varying densities of sprinkled gold powder, creating a stunning luminous gradient against the deep black lacquer. In Japan, the crane is a timeless symbol of longevity, prosperity, and eternal good fortune.
