Generally woodblock printers use vertical cutting wood for carving the block,Vertical cutting wood is soft and easy to carve. (you cut parallel to the nerf of the wood.
But Mr.Saito uses `round slices of wood`, this wood is very hard (high density) You cut on top of the nerf. This way he can carve very precise. He designs, carves and does all the printing himself.

So, it looks like etching, but it is a woodblock print.

It's printed on very tick paper, so nothing from the printing process is visible on the backside.
Condition:
This work is in top condition. Right from his gallery in Tokyo.
