This is an extraordinary Bizen ware Matcha tea bowl (Chawan) crafted by Shin Isezaki (b. 1965), a prominent ceramic artist from one of the most prestigious families in Bizen, Japan. Shin Isezaki is the son of Mitsuru Isezaki (an Intangible Cultural Property of Okayama Prefecture) and the nephew of Jun Isezaki (a Living National Treasure).

This particular bowl features a powerful faceted body (Mentori) and a spectacular natural ash glaze known as Goma (sesame seed pattern), which is created purely by the unpredictable dancing of fire and pine ash inside a traditional wood-fired kiln. The unglazed clay body exhibits a rich, earthy bronze tone, embodying the ultimate Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetic.

It comes with its original high-quality wooden box (Tomobako), beautifully signed and sealed by the artist, ensuring its authenticity and provenance. Also includes the original wrapping cloth and a profile booklet.
