Giggs Kgonamotse Kgole is a South African multidisciplinary contemporary artist working across collage, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and digital media. His practice explores perception, identity, memory and the transformation of familiar imagery into new visual narratives.
This original work comes from the artist's personal archive and represents part of his evolving artistic practice. The work is offered directly from the artist's collection as part of an intentional release of archived works, creating space for the development of new bodies of work.
Narrative
This is a special piece made through time, I started the work when I was 7 years old, collecting the bags with my mother after school, cutting each thread to weave. I later finished this piece with my mother years later when I was 22 years old to rekindle the spiral love for tapestry and time spent between mother and son.
