PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This elegant bronze vase titled “Horyo” (豊稜) was created by renowned Japanese metal artist Shugoro Hasuda and retailed by the prestigious WAKO Ginza.
Its rounded body rises into a slender neck, creating a beautifully balanced silhouette that combines strength with refined simplicity.
Fine horizontal lines encircle the central body and provide a subtle geometric rhythm, while the deep green patinated surface gives the bronze a rich and sophisticated appearance.
Rather than relying on elaborate decoration, the work emphasizes the beauty of metal itself, its form, texture, and carefully controlled proportions.
Hasuda’s sculptural approach makes this piece equally suitable as a flower vase or as a standalone decorative object in a Japanese or contemporary interior.
An original wooden storage box is included.

CREATOR BACKGROUND – SHUGORO HASUDA
Shugoro Hasuda (1915–2010) was one of the important figures in modern Japanese metal art and was born in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture.
He studied casting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, now Tokyo University of the Arts, and became known for developing modern sculptural expressions using bronze and other metals.
His career extended beyond traditional metal vessels into architectural reliefs, monuments, and what he described as “metal formative art,” helping expand the possibilities of Japanese metalwork in the 20th century.
Hasuda received the Japan Art Academy Prize, was named a Person of Cultural Merit in 1987, and received Japan’s Order of Culture in 1991.
Works by Hasuda are preserved in major Japanese public collections, including the National Crafts Museum and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.

WAKO GINZA BACKGROUND
WAKO is one of Ginza’s most prestigious specialty stores and traces its history to the retail business of Hattori Watch Shop, founded in 1881.
WAKO was formally established in 1947 and began operating under the WAKO name at its landmark Ginza building in 1952.
Known for carefully selected luxury goods, decorative arts, and Japanese craftsmanship, WAKO has also played a longstanding role in introducing fine art and craft through exhibitions in Ginza.
