凯卡乌斯二世在罗姆大宛苏丹国逐渐向蒙古势力臣服的时期执掌政权，蒙古在库塞达格之战失利后对鲁姆的控制日益加强。他与兄弟共同掌权，而对手的塞尔柱派别为寻求蒙古的支持而竞争。凯卡乌斯抗拒蒙古统治，但最终被迫离开安纳托利亚，流亡至拜占庭帝国。他的统治反映了13世纪安纳托利亚塞尔柱权威的分裂与衰落。
