### 1. Crane & Chrysanthemum Fumibako / Document Box

An elegant rectangular Japanese **Fumibako**, traditionally used for storing letters, documents and other important papers.

The glossy black surface is decorated with two graceful flying cranes rendered in gold tones, accompanied by a **chrysanthemum motif**.

A small artist/workshop-style seal is also visible on the decoration.

The combination of the glossy black finish and gold decoration creates a refined and distinctly Japanese appearance.

### 2. Crane & Pine Decorative Telegram Box

The second piece is a Japanese **telegram box**, decorated with a striking composition of **two flying cranes surrounded by pine-tree motifs**.

The cranes are rendered in gold, reddish-gold, black and red details against a deep black background, while the surrounding pine trees are executed in metallic tones.

The combination of cranes and pine is especially meaningful in traditional Japanese decorative art. Both are auspicious motifs associated with **longevity, good fortune and enduring prosperity**.

## Condition

Both are Japanese vintage (pre-owned) decorative items, yet they have been preserved in a condition that is virtually unused and close to new.

Estimated period: Late Showa era, circa 1970s–1980s, Japan.
The dating is approximate and is based on the design, construction and the original Japanese instruction sheet accompanying the Fumibako.

There are signs of age and storage, including light surface marks, scratches and minor wear. Please carefully examine all photographs, as they form an important part of the condition description.

The crane, pine and chrysanthemum decorations remain visually attractive against the glossy black surfaces.
