Elegant original set by Creaciones Dan Karner (Barcelona, Spain), comprising a sculptural centerpiece with a crackled glass bowl and a decorative tray.

Dan Karner, also known as Daniel Karner, was a French-born designer and craftsman who worked in Paris during the 1930s and 1940s. In his workshop, located in the 3rd Arrondissement, he produced small series of decorative and functional objects of outstanding craftsmanship, specializing in wood carving and elegant home accessories, all characterized by refined design and limited production.

After the Second World War, he moved his activity to Barcelona, where he continued his production under the name "Creaciones Dan Karner – Barcelona, Spain," the same mark that is stamped on the pieces included in this lot.

LOT DESCRIPTION:
The set consists of a centerpiece made of solid carved wood with a thick hand-blown crackled glass bowl, and a matching tray entirely made of solid carved wood. Both pieces faithfully represent the organic style developed by Dan Karner in Spain during the 1960s and 1970s, featuring vegetal-inspired carving with flowing lines and careful craftsmanship that evokes the aesthetics of mid-20th-century Nordic design.

• The centerpiece consists of a sculptural wooden structure supporting an original crackled glass bowl of remarkable thickness and weight, topped by a carved stem and leaf. Particularly noteworthy is the contrast between the lightness of the wood and the considerable weight and quality of the glass.

• The tray reproduces the same formal language through carved leaves and fruits, creating a set of great aesthetic harmony and strong decorative presence.

Both pieces retain the original Creaciones Dan Karner – Barcelona, Spain stamp on the base, attesting to their authenticity.

Despite the signs of use consistent with its age and the shrinkage crack present in the wood, the set retains a magnificent aesthetic presence and remarkable decorative value, distinguished by the quality of its handcrafted carving, the harmony of its organic forms, and the excellent condition of the glass, which remains impeccable.

Centerpiece
• Retains its original crackled glass bowl, of substantial thickness and considerable weight, in excellent condition, with no cracks, fractures or chips.

• The upper leaf has an old restoration, properly consolidated and stable.

• The base has a crack resulting from the natural movement of the solid wood over the years. It remains stable and has not required any intervention, as the piece has seen little use and has not been subjected to frequent handling. Nevertheless, should the future owner wish, there is always the possibility of carrying out a preventive consolidation.

• One of the tips of the base has a small chip.

• Retains a beautiful patina and light signs of use consistent with its age.
• No restorations or losses of wood.
