Offered is a stunning and highly elegant chess set, handcrafted from premium natural stone and marble from the famous Greek island of Naxos. Naxos is globally renowned for its superior quality crystalline marble. This specific set was originally acquired from the well-known marble workshop N. Georgakopoulos & A. Sofikitis (original business card included).
The chess board is constructed from deep black veined marble with contrasting pure white marble squares, surrounded by a wide, robust border. The hand-turned chess pieces are a work of art in themselves: the white pieces showcase the classic soft glow of white marble, while the opposing army is crafted from a deep, greenish-black natural stone with beautiful, contrasting details.
The set is in excellent, original condition and comes complete with its authentic presentation box. The interior is lined with a protective orange silk-like fabric, allowing each piece to be stored safely and individually.
