​Signature: Signed "С. Колесниковъ" (in Cyrillic) at the lower left.
​Condition: The work appears to be in its original period frame. There are signs of age and some paint flaking/loss, particularly visible in the detail photos. The reverse shows natural oxidation consistent with the early 20th century.

Stepan Feodorovich Kolesnikov (1879–1955) was a Russian realist painter known for his snow-covered landscapes and rural scenes depicting peasant life. Born into a peasant family in Adrianopol (now Ukraine), he studied at the Odessa School of Art and the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, where he earned the admiration of Ilya Repin. A favorite of Tsar Nicholas II, Kolesnikov left Russia after the Revolution and settled in Belgrade, where he lived until his death. Today, his works are held in major museum collections, including the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow and the Odessa Fine Arts Museum.
