卖家的描述
Protoreaster sp. – Knobbed Sea Star – Philippines
A striking and well-preserved specimen of Protoreaster sp., a distinctive tropical sea star appreciated for its robust form and strongly sculptural dorsal surface.
The specimen displays five elongated arms radiating from a broad central disc. Numerous prominent conical tubercles cover the upper surface, particularly around the centre and along the arms, creating the characteristic three-dimensional appearance associated with this genus.
Its coloration combines warm sandy beige, peach and soft orange tones, with lighter tips on several of the raised nodules and subtle darker areas that add further depth to the surface.
The underside reveals the characteristic pentaradial anatomy of the sea star, with clearly defined ambulacral grooves extending from the central mouth along each arm. Fine calcified structures and granular textures remain visible across the specimen.
The overall symmetry is well preserved, while minor natural irregularities, surface wear and small imperfections are consistent with an authentic dried marine specimen and are clearly visible in the photographs.
Origin: Philippines
An impressive natural history specimen combining bold geometry, intricate texture and strong sculptural appeal, ideal for marine collections, Wunderkammer displays or decorative natural history interiors.
