presenting a rare and well-preserved pair of candelabras from WMF, circa 1887.

2 antique WMF brand candlesticks with 2 drip-candles holders. The selected object is a pair of ornate candelabras in Neo-Baroque style from the late 19th century. These striking pieces are characterized by their richly decorated repoussé work (embossing), adorned with floral reliefs, typical Rocaille curves, and curved, multi-tiered bases.
Similar historical models were manufactured by renowned manufacturers such as Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik (WMF) around 1885 to 1900 in both silver-plated and zinc alloy variants.
Features and Determination Style:
Neo-Baroque / Historicism with asymmetrical C- and S-curves, shell motifs and plastic Rocaille. Material: These opulent pieces are commonly silver-plated base metal (such as brass or Britannia metal) or, less commonly, solid real silver (e.g., 800 or 925 sterling silver).
Condition: The dark discolorations in the recesses indicate natural oxidation (patina) that occurs over the years on silver and silver-plated items.
AS - desired dark staining

The height is 31 cm and the base about 13 cm square. Weight per candlestick: 660 grams.

The candlesticks are marked with WMF I/O and as, as well as the number 248. See photo.

Due to their age, minimal rubbing and signs of use are present. See photos. Other damages such as dents or bulges are not present. Worthy buyers!
