Hideo Hagiwara (1913–2007) – “Hakuro (White Dew)”
A signed Japanese woodblock print by the internationally recognised Japanese print artist Hideo Hagiwara.
The work is dated 1996 and is numbered 8/300 in pencil. The composition presents Hagiwara's characteristic abstract approach to colour, texture and form, combining subtle geometric elements with a rich yellow, blue, grey and white palette.
Hagiwara developed an innovative approach to modern Japanese woodblock printing and is known internationally for his abstract woodblock prints. His works have been exhibited at major international print exhibitions, and he was awarded the Grand Prize at the 1962 International Biennial of Prints in Lugano.
