This is a white Satsuma enamel incense burner. It features a warm milky-white body with fine crackle glaze known as kannyu, lavishly decorated with gold paint and detailed floral motifs of autumn grasses. The lid includes delicate openwork carving, designed for incense smoke to rise. The handles are shaped in the form of elephant heads.

Artist Profile:
Sattouzan is a workshop that inherits the traditional techniques of Satsuma ware from the 1500s.
