Akan weights to weigh gold powder - used since the 13th century - named abrammouo in singular and mrammuo in plural, are divided into two categories: the geometric weights with symbolic motifs that are associated with proverbs and the figurative weights bearing messages inspired by flora, fauna, humans and their artifacts.

The Akans distinguish three groups of birds: 1- Birds of the air - Owlalumin- which rarely touch the ground and perch in trees (eagle, hornbill, turaco, pigeon, dove...)
2- Ground birds - Ahalumin- which include those that peck on the ground (primarily backyard poultry, quail...) 3- Water birds - Asoalumin- which designate waterfowl and waders.

This old weight represents a large wader of ibis-type, with wings folded and the head slightly raised.
