This painting presents a wide rural landscape dominated by golden fields that extend to a distant line of trees beneath a clear blue sky. The scene seems to unfold in summer, when the crops have matured and the earth takes on warm tones of wheat, ochre and brown. In the central-right area there appear two small figures working or resting beside the vegetation, while numerous red and yellow flowers animate the foreground and lend a delicate vitality to the environment.

The field occupies about half of the lower portion of the composition and is the main visual element. Its vast extent conveys the breadth of the landscape and immediately evokes a sense of freedom. The lines across the earth guide the gaze from the foreground to the figures, and then toward the gentle elevations of the horizon.

The surface of the terrain shows a rich combination of yellows, ochres, browns, muted greens and small pinkish reflections.
