Beautiful and impressive original Odeon upright cabinet gramophone, dating from approximately 1923–1929.

This is a large luxury salon/cabinet model produced for Odeon, associated with the Carl Lindström group in Germany. The gramophone is housed in a substantial wooden cabinet with decorative carved floral panels, fluted detailing and a curved upper section.

The interior retains the characteristic Odeon trademark, showing the famous Odeon building/logo.

The gramophone is equipped with an original ODEON GRAND soundbox/reproducer, metal tonearm, mechanical spring-driven motor, speed control and winding handle.

A particularly attractive feature is the large internal wooden acoustic horn, concealed behind the front doors. No electrical amplification is used: the sound is mechanically amplified through the soundbox, tonearm and wooden horn.

The lower cabinet contains the original compartments for storing 78 rpm records.

The gramophone also comes with the accessories shown in the photographs, including needle/accessory boxes and needles.

The exact Odeon cabinet model has not yet been conclusively identified. Comparable Odeon machines from this period were marketed as luxury cabinet or “Salonschrank” gramophones. For this reason, the gramophone is deliberately not being offered under an unconfirmed model number.

The cabinet is in very attractive original condition considering its age, with normal signs of use, age and minor wear. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

A beautiful and increasingly uncommon example of an early Odeon luxury cabinet gramophone, particularly attractive because of its large wooden horn, original Odeon Grand reproducer, decorative cabinet and high degree of completeness.

Due to its size and weight, collection is strongly preferred. Any transport should be arranged with appropriate care for antique furniture and mechanical gramophones.
