Description：
A refined Japanese lacquer natsume tea caddy by Sosho (宗勝), decorated with a delicate Four Seasons Shippo (四季七宝) maki-e design. The glossy black lacquer ground is embellished with interlocking shippo circles in gold, a traditional Japanese pattern symbolizing harmony, continuity, and enduring connections.
Within the geometric circles appear small seasonal motifs rendered in gold, silver, and subtle colored lacquer, including flowers and leaves representing the changing seasons. The restrained decoration contrasts beautifully with the deep black surface, creating an elegant and balanced composition.
Used in the Japanese tea ceremony to hold powdered matcha, this chū-natsume (medium-sized natsume) combines traditional lacquer craftsmanship with auspicious symbolism. It is accompanied by its original signed wooden storage box (tomobako).
