Æ (Bronze, 15.9 mm, 3.67 g).
Obv: Jugate and draped busts of Aretas IV and Shaqilat to right.
Rev: 'ḥrtt / šqy/lt' (Aretas, Shaqilat' in Nabataean) Crossed cornucopiae.

Nabataea flourished under Aretas IV as a powerful Arab kingdom controlling key caravan routes between Arabia, the Levant and the Red Sea. Petra prospered as its political and commercial center, while Nabataean influence extended across southern Syria and northern Arabia. Aretas maintained a careful balance with Rome, and his reign marked one of the kingdom’s greatest periods of wealth and stability before Roman annexation in AD 106.
