While the floor-standing version is globally celebrated, this ceiling version (Megaron Soffitto) distills that architectural rigor into a refined, sculpted fixture designed to illuminate space from above.

Crafted from an extruded aluminum body defined by Frattini’s signature central vertical slit, the fixture creates powerful direct illumination alongside a subtle ambient glow emerging through the iconic aperture.

Good vintage aesthetic condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. Shows original Artemide factory label.

Fully functional. Originally designed for high-heat halogen bulbs (up to 300W), it has been retrofitted with a modern, energy-efficient R7s LED bulb (included).

Note on Retrofit:
Due to the larger housing required for modern R7s LED bulbs, the small internal glass protection shield and original metal connector link are no longer present. This is a common and standard modification to accommodate LED technology without overheating.

About the Designer: Gianfranco Frattini

Gianfranco Frattini (1926–2004) was a central figure of mid-century Italian architecture and design. After graduating in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 1953, he honed his sharp aesthetic working alongside his mentor, Gio Ponti. In 1956, Frattini co-founded the ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale) and became a board member of the Triennale di Milano, actively shaping the global rise of Italian industrial design. Throughout his career, he collaborated with prestigious brands—including Cassina, Bernini, Acerbis, Knoll, and Artemide—winning numerous accolades such as the prestigious Compasso d'Oro. His work is celebrated for its harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and structural rigor, with several of his iconic designs displayed in permanent museum collections worldwide.
