A particularly rare and noteworthy follis of Maximinus II, distinguished by the use of the Invictus epithet and, above all, by its apparently unpublished officina.

The coin is especially interesting from a die- and emission-study perspective. The present specimen bears the Γ (gamma) officina mark, yet this combination appears to be entirely absent from the published and readily accessible corpus. The type is cited in RIC 69A only by way of a variant, but the present officina is not recorded there.

Its rarity becomes even more striking when consulting major online databases: acsearch records no example whatsoever of this type from the third officina (Γ). Likewise, OCRE does not cite a single specimen from officina Γ. Thus, this coin appears to represent not merely an uncommon variant, but an apparently unrecorded manifestation of the type.

For the specialist, this is precisely the kind of coin that makes a late Roman bronze particularly desirable: a seemingly familiar issue revealing an unexpected and undocumented detail. The combination of the rare Invictus titulature with an officina apparently absent from the known corpus gives the specimen considerable interest for collectors of Maximinus II, the Tetrarchy, and Roman mint studies.

An appealing opportunity to acquire a coin with genuine numismatic significance and the potential to add a new reference to the corpus of Heraclea's coinage.
