SLADE – 4-CD Career Anthology Box Set + Biography + 3 Unworn T-Shirts – Collector’s Lot
A comprehensive Slade collection, equally suitable for the dedicated collector or for anyone wanting to discover one of the biggest and most distinctive British bands of the 1970s.
Fronted by Noddy Holder’s unmistakable voice, Slade achieved six UK No.1 singles and an extraordinary run of Top 10 hits. Their best-known songs include Coz I Luv You, Mama Weer All Crazee Now, Cum On Feel the Noize and, of course, “Merry Xmas Everybody” — their 1973 Christmas No.1 which has returned to the British charts repeatedly and remains one of the most instantly recognisable Christmas records ever made.
Slade’s influence continued long after their 1970s heyday. Quiet Riot had major success with covers of Cum On Feel the Noize and Mama Weer All Crazee Now, while Oasis also recorded Cum On Feel the Noize.
At the heart of this lot is The Slade Box – A 4 CD Anthology 1969–1991, an extensive career-spanning collection of 84 tracks, taking the listener from the band’s earliest recordings through their spectacular glam-rock years and later career. It includes the major hits alongside album tracks, B-sides and less familiar material, presented in an attractive book-style edition with an extensive illustrated booklet.
Also included is Daryl Easlea’s substantial biography Whatever Happened to Slade? – When the Whole World Went Crazee, with a foreword by Bob Geldof. Together, the book and CD anthology make an excellent way to explore not only Slade’s music but also the remarkable story behind the band.
Completing the lot are three different unworn Slade T-shirts: the white Earls Court London design, black Made in England design and red Slade Alive! / Command Studios design.
A great ready-made Slade collection combining music, biography and memorabilia — for the established Slade collector or simply someone who wants to discover why, more than half a century later, everybody still knows “Merry Xmas Everybody.”
