Strong contrast between smooth turquoise zones and granular golden areas. Accompanied by its signed tomobako.

Ceramist born in Kyoto. Trained in Kyoto, he taught ceramics at the University of Chicago in the 1960s. Known for sculptural forms and expressive, high-contrast glazes. Exhibited in Japan, Europe, the United States and Australia. Named Person of Cultural Merit (文化功労者) in 2021. Works held in the collection of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art (Cornell University) and in several public museums in Japan and the United States.
