About the artwork

Natural Flow by Maria Ruisi transforms movement into an intricate visual network. Intense magenta, crimson, violet and electric-blue forms emerge across a deep atmospheric field, while delicate white lines move between them like currents, signals or invisible pathways.

The composition appears simultaneously organic and interconnected. Individual forms emerge, collide and separate, yet remain connected by an almost continuous visual flow. The painting invites the viewer’s eye to travel freely across the surface, discovering new relationships between colour, movement and space.

The dark background gives the brighter forms a luminous intensity. Red and magenta introduce energy and emotional tension, violet creates depth, and electric blue brings rhythm and contrast. Fine white lines guide the gaze through the composition, creating the impression of a living network in constant transformation.

Rather than imposing a fixed interpretation, Maria Ruisi creates an open visual system. The forms may evoke flowers, cells, memories, signals or constellations. Their meaning changes according to the viewer’s perception and distance from the artwork.

Natural Flow forms part of the Invisible Signals series, in which Ruisi explores the connections that exist beyond immediate understanding. The handwritten message on the reverse extends this concept:

Natural Flow explores the invisible relationships that connect separate forms.

The painting suggests that every movement, encounter and transformation leaves a trace. The white pathways resemble signals travelling through a biological, emotional or cosmic network. Individual elements appear independent, yet each remains linked to the wider composition.

The work reflects the balance between freedom and structure. The coloured forms move spontaneously, while the network of fine lines creates coherence and direction.

This tension between order and intuition lies at the centre of Maria Ruisi’s artistic practice. Natural Flow becomes both a visual landscape and a reflection on communication, memory and human connection.

Technique and visual presence

The artwork was created entirely by hand using mixed media on canvas.

Maria Ruisi builds the composition through successive layers, creating variations in density, transparency and texture. The darker background establishes depth, while the brighter colours and fine linear elements generate movement across the surface.

The work changes subtly according to its environment. Under natural light, delicate transitions and fine details become more visible. Under warm evening lighting, the darker tones gain intensity and the vivid colours appear to project forward.

About the artist

Maria Ruisi, born in Latvia in 1983, is a contemporary artist, PhD engineer and founder artist of Abstract Art Gallery.

Her practice combines creative intuition with a research-based understanding of structure, materials and visual perception. Since childhood, she has developed a strong sensitivity to colour, texture and spatial relationships. Her scientific background later introduced a rigorous analytical dimension into her artistic process.

Ruisi creates compositions in which movement, balance and interconnected forms play a central role. Her works are conceived as evolving visual structures whose appearance changes subtly according to the surrounding light and the viewer’s position.

Through layered surfaces, gestural forms and precise visual pathways, she explores the tension between control and spontaneity. Her paintings invite both immediate emotional engagement and prolonged observation.

Natural Flow is a characteristic example of her research into invisible systems, intuitive communication and the movement of energy across space.
