antique European standing table crucifix, circa 1900, probably from Bohemia (Czech lands). Made of extensively turned and blackened wood with a dark, naturally patinated cast-metal Corpus Christi. The elaborate spindle-turned construction and stepped circular base give the piece a distinctive decorative presence.
The original surface shows extensive age-related craquelure, abrasions, losses, old cracks and insect holes, particularly to the underside. The metal Corpus has a repaired crack, visible on close inspection, as well as natural age-related patination and wear. No maker’s mark is visible, and the Bohemian attribution cannot be confirmed with certainty.
Sold in its found condition, with all visible age, wear and restoration characteristics retained.
