Exceptional Almandine Garnet on Albite/Quartz Matrix – Erongo Mountains, Namibia

A highly attractive natural specimen featuring a prominent, well-developed Almandine garnet crystal beautifully positioned on a contrasting pale albite/quartz matrix.

The garnet displays a rich deep wine-red to reddish-brown colour, with brighter red reflections visible along thinner edges and crystal faces when illuminated. Its naturally developed geometric form and vitreous lustre create an excellent contrast with the light-coloured matrix.

The specimen is particularly appealing because the garnet remains naturally attached to its original host rock, clearly showing the geological relationship between the crystal and the surrounding feldspar-rich matrix. Almandine associated with albite and quartz is documented from the Erongo Mountains, one of Namibia's best-known mineral-producing regions.

Strong lighting reveals subtle transparency and internal red tones within the garnet, while the pale matrix provides an excellent natural display base. The combination of colour contrast, crystal size and presentation makes this a very attractive collector specimen.
