Two vintage Burberry cufflink sets: a Black Label geometric pair with original box and a silver-tone Equestrian Knight pair.

Burberry Black Label was not simply an alternative logo used by the main Burberry collection. It was part of a licensed range produced specifically for the Japanese market under Burberry’s agreement with Sanyo Shokai and Mitsui. The Japanese licensing agreement expired in 2015, bringing the original Burberry Black Label line to an end.

By contrast, the second pair is marked simply Burberry and features the house’s traditional Equestrian Knight Design. This historic emblem dates from around 1901 and represents honour, protection and progress.

The two pairs therefore represent distinct sides of the brand’s history: one comes from the former Japanese-market Black Label collection, with a more modern geometric identity, while the other reflects Burberry’s classic international heritage branding.

Condition:
Both pairs are in used vintage condition and display visible signs of age and previous wear.

The Burberry Black Label cufflinks show surface scratches, dark spotting, tarnishing and uneven discolouration across the textured faces and fittings. The recessed black decoration and printed branding remain clearly visible. Their original presentation box shows rubbing, scratches and wear around the edges and corners, while the interior retains its Burberry Equestrian Knight branding.

The second pair shows more pronounced surface deterioration, including widespread pitting, scratches, tarnishing, small marks and finish wear. The engraved Burberry lettering and Equestrian Knight emblems remain identifiable but have become faint in places. Wear and oxidation are also visible on the reverse surfaces, bars and toggles.

The fastening components are complete.
