Vintage Showa Japanese Silk Obi Set of 2 – Crane Motif & Luxurious Metallic Gold Thread

Item Description

A set of two vintage Japanese silk obi belts from the Showa period, featuring two distinctly different traditional designs.

The first obi is a striking green silk piece decorated with elegant crane motifs in vivid red, white, and gold tones, arranged within a geometric pattern. Cranes are a classic auspicious motif in Japanese decorative arts and give this obi a particularly impressive appearance.

The second obi is a luxurious gold-colored silk piece with elaborate traditional geometric and floral-style woven patterns. The gold threads used in this obi are metallic threads, producing a rich reflective appearance that changes subtly depending on the light. Please note that this gold obi has no inner stiffening core and is not sewn together in the conventional finished-obi construction. Please refer carefully to the photographs for its construction and condition.

The green obi shows some minor fraying and staining consistent with age and use, as visible in the photographs. However, no particularly conspicuous stains were observed on the main front-facing areas, and it appears suitable for wearing.

Both pieces are long-term stored vintage items from the Showa period. They have been carefully inspected, but due to their age, there may be small stains, discoloration, loose threads, or other minor signs of deterioration that were not noticed during inspection. Please understand and appreciate these characteristics as part of the history and age of vintage Japanese textiles.
