多晶辉陨石陨石碎片——阿尔及利亚 2024 – 12.10 g – 融融壳 – 稀有

exceptional 12.10 g slice of a polymict eucrite meteorite, discovered in Algeria in 2024.

This meteorite belongs to the HED (Howardite–Eucrite–Diogenite) achondrite group, a family of differentiated meteorites generally associated with asteroid (4) Vesta.

The specimen displays a beautiful brecciated structure, clearly visible on both cut faces. Numerous grey clasts of different sizes, shapes and textures are embedded within a beautiful light-coloured and highly contrasting matrix. This structure records episodes of fragmentation, impact and reassembly experienced by the material on its parent body.

One edge also preserves a beautiful, dark and fresh fusion crust, creating a remarkable contrast with the light-coloured interior of the meteorite. The preservation of fusion crust is particularly interesting on a slice, as it allows both the exterior surface altered during atmospheric passage and the internal structure of the meteorite to be observed on the same specimen.

Currently Under Analysis

This meteorite is currently being studied at the ADARA Laboratory in the Canary Islands, Spain, under the supervision of José García.

Prior to completion of the analysis, José García identified the material as a very fine polymict eucrite, particularly noting the quality and visual appearance of its matrix.

The final scientific classification and official number are therefore not yet available. These will depend on the results of the analysis currently in progress.

A Particularly Limited Total Mass

The meteorite was discovered in Algeria in 2024.

To date, only one stone weighing approximately 800 g is known, representing an extremely limited amount of material if no additional paired specimens are discovered.

Characteristics
Type: HED Achondrite – Polymict Eucrite
Status: Analysis and classification in progress
Laboratory: ADARA Laboratory, Canary Islands, Spain
Analysis supervised by: José García
Discovery: Algeria, 2024
Known total mass: Approximately 800 g – one known stone
Specimen weight: 12.10 g
Form: Slice with two cut faces
Notable features: Highly contrasting polymict breccia, numerous clasts and preserved fresh fusion crust
A Beautiful Collector's Specimen

This slice is particularly interesting for the visual richness of its internal structure, displaying large grey clasts, numerous smaller fragments and a light-coloured matrix, together with preserved fusion crust along the edge.

A particularly representative specimen for a collection dedicated to achondrites, differentiated meteorites or HED meteorites.

The specimen shown in the photographs is exactly the one you will receive.
