Sorrento marquetry table.
made mid-to-late 20th century(1950–1975).
made in Sorrento, Italy, a coastal town world-famous for its wood inlay traditions (tarsia wood marquetry).
The Music Box Movement:
The inner mechanical movement is stamped "Lador - Switzerland."
It functions as it should( functioning condition).
Lador was a family-owned Swiss manufacturer based in Sainte-Croix. During the 1950s through the early 1970s, Lador was one of the primary Swiss suppliers exporting 18-note mechanisms to Italy for souvenir furniture.
The ink-stamped block typography under the table top became standard practice on export items during the Italian post-war economic boom of the late 1950s and 1960s.
The cast metal winding key, the spring release pin, and the high-gloss lacquer finish over wood marquetry are signature manufacturing traits of mid-century Sorrento production .
