Vintage Japanese Hokuriku Gas Double-Sided Enamel Warning Sign – Showa Era
An unusual and highly atmospheric vintage Japanese industrial warning sign issued for Hokuriku Gas (Hokuriku Gas Co., Ltd.), a long-established gas utility company based in Niigata Prefecture, Japan.
This is a double-sided enamel metal sign with different warning messages on each side.
One side reads:
「ガス管注意」
“Caution – Gas Pipe”
The reverse side reads:
「ガス管 雪捨厳禁」
“Gas Pipe – Strictly No Snow Dumping”
The lower section bears the company name:
「北陸ガス」

and the telephone number:
TEL (代) 33-3200
The number 33-3200 corresponds to the telephone number used by the Nagaoka branch of Hokuriku Gas, currently listed as 0258-33-3200.
The two different warning messages are particularly interesting.
