About the print
Bijin jūni sugata is Toshihide's best-known series of beautiful women. It was published by Akiyama Buemon in 1901, with one sheet for each month of the year and a separate table-of-contents diptych. The series belongs to the last flowering of the traditional bijin-ga in the late Meiji period. Its large, carefully printed sheets show the influence of Toshihide's teacher, Yoshitoshi, together with the refined taste of the new century.
