The piece is crafted using the complex overlay crystal technique, combining a transparent clear crystal inner layer and a colored outer layer of a superb amethyst or bishop violet hue. The rich cut decoration is structured on the lower part of the body through deeply cut geometric patterns, highlighting large radiating starbursts alternating with finely cross-hatched patterns forming a diamond network. The long conical neck is for its part structured by vertical flat ribs that catch and reflect light in a rectilinear manner. The circular base features a reverse side entirely cut with a regular radiating rosette extending over the entire surface of the foot. The object bears no acid-etched signature under its base, which remains common for productions from this period. The dimensions recorded for this hollow piece are 25 cm in height, 4 cm in diameter at the neck and 7.5 cm in diameter at the base of the foot. The individual weight of the decanter is 500 g. Regarding its condition, the item is in good original general condition without any external chips or structural cracks, the glass and the cut maintaining a beautiful brilliance. Please note that the piece is sold without its original stopper and that it shows visible whitish limescale traces on the internal walls due to previous use.
