卖家的描述
antiqued Chinese brass dragon vase – about 1900-1920 – richly decorated
Beautiful and particularly richly executed Chinese brass dragon vase, probably dating from circa 1900-1920, late Qing/early Republic period.
The vase is around fully detailed with an impressive Chinese dragon in high relief, birds, blossoms and various stylized and hand-engraved motifs. Especially the powerful dragon that moves across the belly of the vase and the three-dimensional dragon that coils spirally around the neck give the piece a distinctly sculptural character.
The combination of engraved decorations and separately applied relief elements makes this a particularly decorative piece. On the bottom there is also a round cast Chinese character/seal mark.
The vase sits on a lovely open-work dark wooden coaster, which nicely contrasts with the warm gold color and the natural patina of the brass.
Dimensions:
• Height: about 24 cm
• Diameter: about 13 cm
• Material: brass
• Origin: China
• Dating: presumably about 1900-1920
• Includes hardwood coaster
• Marked on the underside
Condition:
Nice authentic condition with patina and signs of age and use, appropriate to the presumed age. At the transition from the neck to the shoulder, a small piece of the brass edge/decor is missing. This is clearly visible in the photos and, in my opinion, does not significantly detract from the overall distinctive appearance.
A very characterful Chinese dragon vase with a lot of handwork and fine detailing, attractive to collectors of Asiatic art, Chinese antiques and unusual decorative objects.
Photos are an integral part of the description.
