Description
An elegant and quintessential example of French horology from the Napoleon III period (ca. 1850–1880). This wall clock—commonly known as an "Œil-de-Bœuf" (Bull's Eye) in French or "Ossenoog" in Dutch—features a striking, contoured wavy frame characteristic of the era.

The case is beautifully decorated with intricate, symmetrical mother-of-pearl (pearly shell) and brass foliate/floral inlays that contrast magnificently against the darkened wood tones. The clock faces a white porcelain/enamel dial adorned with classic black Roman numerals, completed by pierced ornamental hands and a polished brass bezel ring. The reverse features a classic ebonized wooden box extension housing the mechanical movement.

An absolute eye-catcher for any antique or classic European interior design.

Aesthetics: Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The wood, ebonized finish, and delicate mother-of-pearl inlay elements show normal vintage patina and minor aging typical for a 19th-century item. [
