Koransha Large Arita Porcelain Vase – Blue Peonies & Gold – Wooden Box

Item Description:
Arita porcelain is distinguished by its fine white body, which provides a luminous ground for richly coloured decoration and delicate gold accents. This large Koransha vase brings these qualities together in a striking composition of blue peonies and foliage.

A large peony spreads across the rounded body, its layered petals softly shaded from deep cobalt blue through pale blue to white. Surrounding leaves alternate between rich, dark blue and lighter tones, creating depth and contrast across the surface. Fine gold detailing traces the leaf veins and outlines and picks out the centre of the flower, adding precision and warmth to the cool blue palette.

The floral decoration continues around the sides and onto the lower body and foot, offering changing compositions as the vase is viewed from different angles. Its full, rounded shoulders narrow into a short neck and gently flared mouth, finished with a broad gold band. At 28 cm tall, it has a substantial presence as a decorative display piece.

The base bears Koransha’s orchid emblem and the company name in blue. The vase comes with its original Koransha wooden box, with the company name and the Japanese characters for “flower vase” on the lid.

Estimated period: Late 20th century; the exact year of manufacture is unknown.
