a very fine and highly expressive statue with abstract features - could be either from the Mama, Kantana or Chamba of Nigeria. Note the circular opening to a cavity in the back - with remains of materials probably inserted to charge the statue with spiritual power.
The statue is made of heavy hardwood with a brown-reddish surface, probably gained from treatment with camwood powder and oil.
From the former collection of a renown dealer in African and Oceanic arts from Munich, Germany (provenance will be provided to the buyer).

Height approx. 70.5cm
