Item Description
This is a large, finely cast bronze okimono (decorative figure) produced during the Taisho period, depicting a handsome young warrior with particularly well-formed, refined features, fashioned in the likeness of Takeda Shingen (1521–1573). The young warrior is clad in full armor, holding a war fan (gunbai) in one hand and a tantō in the other, with a tachi and wakizashi worn at his back. Every detail has been rendered with exceptional sculptural skill — from the lamellar armor plates (kozane) and the boldly swept-back horned helmet (kabuto), to the finely modeled facial features and the rock-form pedestal (iwaza) — all of which are characteristic of the high-quality export bronzes produced during the Taisho period for Western markets.
Dimensions
Height: 45.5 cm
Width: 20.0 cm
Depth: 14.0 cm
Weight
6,650 g
Condition
As shown in the photographs, there is age-related wear, soiling, discoloration, and verdigris (partial green patina/rust) consistent with the piece's age. No structural damage or losses are apparent upon visual inspection.
Additional Information
Material: Cast bronze (copper alloy). As assessment is based on visual inspection only, the presence of brass components cannot be entirely ruled out
NOITICE:
The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation.
It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
