卖家的描述
presenting a particularly well-preserved theater glass by the German optician Jacob Sachs, Köln and Berlin.
Jacob Sachs (often written Jakob Sachs) was a well-known German court optician who produced high-quality optical instruments in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
He was also appointed court optician!
The addition “Hofoptiker” (or Hof-Optiker) was a title of distinction. It meant that Jacob Sachs was an official supplier to a princely, ducal, or royal house (often the Prussian or a regional Rhineland noble house). This title then stood for the highest artisanal precision, excellent glass quality, and fine mechanics, which is why his pieces remain popular with collectors to this day.
Antique pieces from his workshop are now popular collectibles in the Vintage Optics and Arts & Crafts category.
Typical antique products from Jacob Sachs
From historical workshops such as Jacob Sachs’ workshop, especially noble theater and sight instruments have endured:
Opera glasses and theater glasses: These were usually made from noble materials such as mother-of-pearl, brass, aluminum, or leather.
Here the tubes and eyecups were wrapped with celluloid or bone—very fine workmanship and without cracks!
The characteristic fine lines (Schreger lines) in the material point to real bone. Very beautiful cream color.
Minimal, barely perceptible indentation on one of the lower lenses – metal.
No mushroom contamination!
Clear view.
Dimensions:
Height: 8
Width: 10
Depth: 4
all approximately in cm
This beautiful specimen should appeal to many collectors and enthusiasts.
