Olympus 35 DC Rangefinder with F.Zuiko 40mm f/1.7 Lens - Custom Mustard Yellow Leather - Iconic Japanese Compact Precision

Introduced in 1971, the Olympus 35 DC is celebrated as one of the finest compact rangefinders of the classic Japanese film era. Designed around a bright, high-speed F.Zuiko 40mm f/1.7 lens constructed with six elements in four groups, this camera delivers exceptional sharpness, beautiful background separation, and rich color rendering. The name DC stands for Deluxe Compact, combining fully program automatic exposure with precise rangefinder manual focusing.

This specific unit has been thoughtfully renewed with bespoke mustard yellow genuine leather, turning a vintage optical masterpiece into an eye-catching, tasteful companion. For European street photographers, travelers, and collectors who value authentic craftsmanship, the camera offers effortless operation in natural light. Whether strolling through historic cobblestone streets in the golden hour or capturing intimate indoor portraits, the combination of a sharp f/1.7 optic, program exposure, and backlight compensation button ensures crisp, spontaneous photographs with classic film tonality.

The camera has been thoroughly tested and all operations function properly, including the responsive exposure meter. The viewfinder displays faint dust particles consistent with vintage age, while the rangefinder double image remains clear and aligns correctly. The light seals around the film chamber have been freshly replaced with new foam to prevent light leaks. Cosmetically, the metal body exhibits minor surface scratches and small indentations from historic use, beautifully complemented by the fresh yellow leather skin. The fixed lens shows faint interior dust specks without affecting performance.
