卖家的描述
大型浮雕式卡扎尔建筑瓷砖 – 19世纪
一块引人注目且装饰性强的浮雕陶瓷瓷砖, dating to the Qajar period (19th century or earlier). This large architectural tile is beautifully hand-painted in vibrant underglaze enamels with a charming landscape depicting a pavilion or mosque beside a cypress tree and water, enclosed within an elegant moulded cartouche. The scene is framed by a richly moulded border of scrolling arabesques in deep cobalt blue on a white ground, giving the tile exceptional depth and sculptural quality.
The tile displays the distinctive artistic style of the Qajar era, inspired by the celebrated Safavid ceramic tradition. Its harmonious palette of cobalt blue, turquoise, green, ochre, aubergine and black creates a striking decorative composition. The finely crazed glaze, moulded relief decoration and substantial earthenware body attest to its age and authenticity.
Originally forming part of the architectural decoration of a palace, mansion or garden pavilion, this tile is today a highly decorative collector's piece of Islamic and Persian art, equally suited for display in both classic and contemporary interiors.
Condition
Good antique condition with an attractive aged patina. The glaze shows natural crazing and expected wear from age. Minor edge chips and losses are present, consistent with its original architectural use. Size is important and rare
Dimensions
44 × 32 cm
Provenance
Acquired from a reputable Dutch auction house and subsequently preserved in a private European collection. The lot is accompanied by the original purchase invoice from the auction house, offering documented provenance
A fine and uncommon moulded architectural tile from 19th-century Persia, combining historical significance with outstanding decorative appeal. It is an excellent example of Qajar ceramic craftsmanship and would make a distinguished addition to any collection of Islamic or Oriental art.
