Nederlands-Indië. Willem I (1815-1840). Zilveren 1 Gulden 1839 - Utrecht - Prachtig/Bijna FDC (XF/AU) - Met originele muntglans
Netherlands East Indies. William I (1815-1840). Silver 1 Guilder (Gulden) 1839 - Utrecht - Choice XF/AU - Remaining Mint Lustre

Muntteken: Mercuriusstaf (Utrecht). Muntmeesterteken: Zwaard (J.P. Schouberg).
Technische specificaties:
Emittent: Nederlands-Indië (Koninkrijk der Nederlanden).
Denominatie: 1 Gulden.
Jaartal: 1839.

An exceptionally well-preserved specimen of the silver Guilder (Gulden) struck for the Netherlands East Indies in the year 1839. This coin was minted under the reign of King William I at the Royal Dutch Mint in Utrecht. While most colonial issues from this era show heavy wear due to intense circulation in tropical conditions, this particular piece is in a high-grade state that is rarely offered for sale.
The coin is graded XF/AU (Extremely Fine to About Uncirculated). The intricate details of the royal portrait and the lion within the crowned shield remain sharp and well-defined. A standout feature of this specimen is the presence of its original mint lustre, which provides a silky sheen across the fields. This indicates that the coin saw very little time in circulation before being preserved in a collection.
Design:
Obverse: Portrait of King William I facing right. Legend: WILLEM KONING DER NED. G.H.V.L.
Reverse: Crowned Dutch coat of arms between the split value 1 - G. Below the shield, the text NEDERLANDSCH INDIE and the date 1839.
Mintmark: Caduceus (Utrecht). Mintmaster's mark: Sword (J.P. Schouberg).
Technical Specifications:
Issuer: Netherlands East Indies (Kingdom of the Netherlands).
Denomination: 1 Gulden.
Year: 1839.
Metal: Silver (.945).
Diameter: 30 mm.
Grade: XF/AU (Extremely Fine / About Uncirculated), featuring original luster.
