A Japanese enamel advertising sign for kanzen shiryo, complete animal feed, from the Showa era.

Vitreous enamel on a pressed steel plate. The ground is dark green with a white border. The upper half carries a red and white diamond containing a single kanji as the maker's mark; across the lower half is the wording in raised white characters. The plate is pierced with a mounting hole at each of the upper corners and at the lower corners.

The sign measures approximately 36 cm across the longer side, taken against the rule laid alongside it in the photographs.

Condition:
The sign has been used outdoors and shows it. A band of rust runs vertically down the center of the plate, where the enamel has flaked away and the exposed steel has corroded; this crosses both the diamond mark and the lettering. Rust and enamel loss also run along the edges and around the mounting holes, and there are smaller flake losses on the face. The green enamel elsewhere is glossy and the lettering is legible throughout.

The sign is complete and in one piece. Nothing has been repainted, restored or touched up.

Sold as-is. The photographs form part of the description.
